God can use anybody even a harlot. Rahab lived a promiscuous life in the city of Jericho, but it was God’s will for her to be used in a reconnaissance mission to hide Joshua’s messengers that were to spy out the city before it was destroyed, and her adventurous story can also been seen on Will of God – The Movie.
“And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there. And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country. And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country. And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were.” (Joshua 2:1-4 KJV).
When you look out for God’s people in times of trouble, God will definitely look out for you. Rahab’s life was spared along with everyone in her household from the destruction of Jericho.
“And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the Lord: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel. And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.” (Joshua 6:17,23,25 KJV).
As time went Rahab married Salmon, a member of the tribe of Judah, and they had a son named Boaz. Boaz is one of the predecessors of King David, and King David is within the lineage of Christ. Therefore, the will of God for Rahab was to no longer be a harlot but to help God’s people in war times and to be in the lineage of Christ.
